Abstract:
Route planning software assists people in decision making, especially for car drivers. Route planning software is expected to be more frequently used by cyclists and pedestrians in the near future. Current software is limited on searching constraint, like shortest or fastest. I suggest the route planning software has to consider multiple constraints to let the user define their best route other than traditional constraints. In this study, I demonstrate how to combine the traditional constraints with spatial and thematic constraints, like landscapes. The importance weight is introduced to define the user’s preference of the constraint. By taking traditional constraint, I also demonstrate how to use buffer and temporary stops to get a near round trip, which the start and the end node is same. I analyze the results that are generated from several tests, which is relative to investigate the possibility of the adapted methods. I report the insight into the topic and more investigation needs to be conducted in the future.
