On April 25, 2008 our PhD student Yuan Zeng from China will defend her thesis in the Aula of Wageningen University at 13:30 hrs. Yuan wrote her thesis on the subject of 'Quantitative remote sensing for monitoring forest canopy structural variables in the Three Gorges region of China'.

The thesis was jointly supervised by GRS (http://www.grs.wur.nl/UK/) and IRSA (Institute of Remote Sensing Applications, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China)). An English, Dutch and Chinese summary is available here.

The defense will see the participation of international reknown specialists in the subject, namely Prof. Binfang Wu (IRSA, China), Dr. Jan Clevers (WU, NL), Prof. Michael Schaepman (WU, NL), Prof. Holger Meinke (WU, NL), Prof. Alfred de Gier (ITC, NL), Prof. Shunlin Liang (Univ. Maryland, USA), and Dr. Raymond Sluiter (KNMI, NL).

Participation is open to any interested party.
