The European Space Agency (ESA) has announced its new science strategy for the future direction of its Living Planet Programme: The Changing Earth (http://www.esa.int/esaLP/SEM84CVHESE_index_0.html).

The strategy has been drafted by topic related writing teams, the ESAC, and ESA staff. The process also included a public hearing where feedback was included from the user community.

From Wageningen University Michael Schaepman jointly with Jose Moreno (Univ. Valencia, SP), and Wolfram Mauser (Univ. Munich, GER) were responsible for the content on Land Surfaces.

The report is available online (http://esamultimedia.esa.int/docs/SP-1304.pdf) or in print through ESA.
