Unit: Laboratory of Geo-Information Science and Remote Sensing

Yesterday the appointment of Dr. Martin Herold, as the new Professor Remote Sensing at Wageningen University was announced. He will be the successor of Michael Schaepman, who left Wageningen ealier this year.
Martin Herold studied geography at the universities of Jena and Weimar, Germany. He completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Geography at the Department of Geography, University of California-Santa Barbara with a dissertation entitled: ‘Remote Sensing and Spatial Metrics for Mapping and Modeling of Urban Structures and Growth Dynamics’. 
At the moment he is coordinator of the GOFC GOLD Land Cover Project Office funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. 
His appointment will start November 1st.
